“deep down I believe my year was a special year: it produced me.” – Ned Vizzini
August 16, 1993, a MAJOR Ki birthday!
Okay, so this blog post is coming to you a little late but the energy behind it is still booming. Though 2020 has been such a traumatic and pretty historic year (both in good and terribly bad ways) I still wanted to celebrate my birthday, celebrate God’s gift to me of life, and really just take a second to be somewhere else. Even though days seem dim, there is still so much to be grateful for!
In times of Covid, there’s only so much we can do, but I was determined to make the most of my situation by getting a little creative, being remote, and teaming up with my man for some much needed adventure time! From August 13 – August 16, we packed up our very nice and bougie car rental and made our way to West Philly! Our first stop was getting my hair done by @out_raged_hair (she’s so bomb, young and talented!) & yes, you read right, I definitely drove to Philly to get my hair done lol and it was so worth it!
Next on the itinerary was making our way to our very chic and cozy studio airbnb, surprisingly just minutes away from the hair spot. (If you haven’t already followed me on Instagram: @themajor.ki do it now!! That’s were all the fun is lol) The studio had a pool and amazing view of the city, so enjoying the weekend there was a no brainer. We enjoyed our nights by heading to WonderSpaces in downtown Philly, stopped at the Magic Gardens, ate at Moshulu (bomb dinner on a boat) and just explored the city. Top 5 best little mini trips.
After making our way through the city of brotherly love, we headed to Shawnee Resort in the poconos for my first Glamping experience! Talk about a vibeeee people! If you’ve never tried, you have to! We had most of the site to ourselves with a huge tent and 2 full beds inside, a fire pit (we couldn’t work), with breakfast in bed (that we had to walk to get) and access to golfing, kayaking, rafting, canoe ride, and a few other very dope activities. So all in all, it was meant to be pretty perfect…. but it wasn’t. The service at Shawnee was pretty terrible, we actually got completed refunded for our stay which was the highlight lol. I’m still super grateful for the experience though.
Now that we’ve got the goodies out the way, let’s get into why you’re really here — the fits!! Here is the Birthday Blog fit details we’ve been waiting for. From scenes by the pool to our dinner date on the bay, it was a major birthday vibe.
